It’s funny, as soon as I made the decision in my head, “I’m going on the road”, a friend called whom I know from that world (touring, music conferences, etc.), although I haven’t been in touch with him since I saw him last month at an out-of-state music conference.
He tours quite a bit, and he asked me if I would do the music at his church next weekend, when he’s going to be out of town. He said during the service I would perform about 6 songs, mostly original, and afterwards, stay a little while and do some sing-a-long Christmas music.
It’s about a 2-1/2 hour drive from here, and in order to go I’d have to come in the night before, move a bunch of other things around here, and it doesn’t pay that much that it would make it worth the drive and time away from home.
I said yes.
