I just got back from a counseling session at SCORE with FT and HR. What a fantastic service for business start-ups! They’re so knowledgeable, helpful and they truly want you to succeed. And it’s all free!

We spent the morning looking at my new website. They liked the products a lot, but had some things to say about my website design.

One of the major things that stood out was, I only have 2 products on the site at this time. I have many plans for future products, but it may take awhile before they’re ready to put up there.

What they both caught was, my language was applying to the big picture that’s currently in my head, but that’s not what’s actually posted and available at this point. Both FT & HR recommended I adjust my categories and descriptions to more specifically point to the current products, that are up there, now. Then HR suggested I might put in a button: “products in development”, that points to a page telling customers of new products that are in the works.

I said to them, “Well is that really such a good idea? Wouldn’t that be letting my competition in on what I’m doing, giving them an edge over me?”

FT said “Put it this way. At this point, no one is shaking in their boots.”
